24 Hours for Africa

“A Women’s Baseball Marathon”

October 18-19, 2003

Tucson Electric Park

Dear Sir or Madam,

Cecilia Tan has been selected to play in the history-making women’s marathon baseball game in October.  We want to tell you about the stand she is taking for others.

She has committed to raising $1000 for African women and children that she has never met.  She is also taking time off work and flying herself to Arizona at her own expense.

The 24-Hour Game will be the longest official women’s baseball game ever played.  Over 100 women from across America will form two teams and play over 100-innings.  A record of the game will be archived in Cooperstown.

This game is about heroes.  By stepping on the field, Cecilia will be saving lives.  When have you known a ballplayer to play for a reason like that?

The HIV/AIDS pandemic is sweeping across Africa like a wildfire.  6,500 people die from the disease every day.

We are proud to be partners with U.S. Doctors For Africa.  They send volunteer American doctors and nurses into qualified partner communities in Africa to provide health care, medicine, doctor training, and patient education. (www.USDFA.org)

By written agreement, 100% of all net monies raised by our players and coaches will be put directly into action helping African women and children through U.S. Doctors.  Not a penny will go toward overhead.

Primarily, this money will be focused on helping African mothers give birth to babies free of HIV.  Amazingly, $150 is all it takes to provide a safe and healthy birth.

By donating through Cecilia you are helping an amazing woman take a stand for what is right.  You have the rare and special opportunity to empower a real hero in action.

            Respectfully,

Rob Novotny
